Why Do We Need Body Balance?
Why is it that the foundation of the building needs to be leveled, or a car needs to be aligned? In both cases, alignment or balance is key. A building may stand without a level foundation, but with time, the walls will begin to crack and eventually collapse. A car may be functional if not aligned, but with time, the stress placed on one or two of the tires will cause the treads to wear off quicker than the others. Being in alignment or having a level foundation is essential to health and longevity of the structure or the object.
People too need balance. When the body’s center of gravity, the core, or spine is not balanced, the weight of the body is distributed unevenly causing wear out prematurely. Short-term effects may be pain and discomfort; however, long-term effects can lead to joint degeneration, disc problems, nerve irritation, or chronic pain. Do you ever wonder why most people only get one hip replaced? It is not because that one hip is older than the other one, but it is simply because one is carrying more physical stress or more of the gravitational force upon it causing it to degenerate quicker than the other.
